MPSJ receives the Gold Award at the International Green Apple Award

SHAH ALAM, 13 Nov: The Subang Jaya Municipal Council’s (MPSJ) efforts to implement initiatives towards a green city were clearly worthwhile.

In a statement issued by its Corporate Department, MPSJ received the Gold Award at the International Green Apple Awards for Environmental Best Practice 2014, through the My Biomass Way project.

“MPSJ’s efforts to form the MPSJ Green City Action Plan 2030, with the aim of becoming an eco-friendly, tidy and comfortable township, as well as to make it the greenest city in Malaysia and the green initiatives introduces were clearly not in vain.

“MPSJ joined the International Green Apple Awards (IGAA) to improve MPSJ’s skills and expertise, in addition to strengthening knowledge towards becoming municipality with international standards” according the a statement issued yesterday.

The award ceremony was held at The House of Parliament in London, the United Kingdom, on 10 November, and was attended by the MPSJ Deputy President, Abdullah Marjunid.

The Green Apple Award 2014 was organised by The Green Organisation in the United Kingdom to encourage and recognise the practice of caring for the environment by a society, organisation, non-governmental organisation (NGO), the private sector and governments around the world.

Apart from MPSJ, the Shah Alam City Council (MBSA) also received an award for the Best Environment Practice category at the ceremony.
