Guan Eng: Penang Umno dares Penang Umno to submit evidence on illegal gambling sites

SHAH ALAM, 29 Nov: The Penang Umno has been challenged to prove that there are illegal gambling, prostitution and entertainment outlets in the state, instead of merely throwing unfounded accusations about the Chinese community that works hard and obeys the law in earning a living in the state.

The Penang Chief Minister, Lim Guan Eng, said that if the Penang Umno fails to provide evidence, the Penang BN Chairman, Teng Chang Yeow, should urge for action to be taken against Penang Umno leaders or resign for failing to be an effective BN Chairman.

He said that there is no point of demanding an apology from the Penang Umno because there would definitely be no action taken against racist and extreme leaders.

Furthermore, the BN government’s move to maintain the Sedition Act is to misuse it as a political weapon against Pakatan Rakyat.

“Instead of against Penang Umno leaders who continue to insult the Chinese community,” said Guan Eng in a media statement.

He said that the Penang Umno’s contempt and lies saying that the economic and political strength of the Chinese community in Penang comes from illegal economic activities such as illegal gambling, prostitution and entertainment centres is also a target to the police in this state that openly denied such activities.

“This is contrary to the repeated assertions by the Penang Chief of Police, Datuk Abdul Rahim Hanafi, that there are no such activities in this state.

“Until the end of last month, Datuk Abdul Rahim said that the police had raided gambling dens and added “For the record, Penang has zero illegal gambling machines”,” he said.
