SHAH ALAM, 2 Jan: It has been reported that Sabah is preparing for disaster while the water levels in Kelantan, Terengganu, Pahang and Perak are receding.
The Kota Belut District Officer, Abdul Garni Itam, said that 204 flood victims in Kota Belud have been moved to the Tun Said Hall evacuation centre as of 2pm just now, Bernama reported.
In the East Coast and Perak, some of the victims taking shelter at evacuation centres have been sent home. Statistics as of 12 noon showed 44,591 flood victims still being housed at evacuation centres in Pahang, 27,282 in Kelantan, 2,917 in Terengganu, 7,513 in Perak and 138 in Johor.
The Johor Operations Control Centre reported that the flood situation in Johor remains unchanged.
Meanwhile, four sub-centres have been established in Kedah, Malacca and Perak to facilitate the distribution of relief supplies in the states affected by the floods.
Defence Minister Datuk Seri Hishammuddin Tun Hussein said that the centres are located at 6th Battalion Royal Malay Regiment headquarters at the Sultan Abdul Halim Muadzam Shah Camp in Jitra, Kedah; multipurpose hall of 3rd Division at Terendak Camp in Melaka; hall of 2nd Brigade staff headquarters in Ipoh, Perak and Piyuntinan hall of 2nd Battalion Royal Rangers Regiment at Syed Putra Camp, also in Ipoh.
