SHAH ALAM, 31 Jan: The state government takes the incident where a child fell from level 6 of the Kota Damansara People’s Housing Project (PPR) seriously by asking Selangor Housing and Property Sdn Bhd (PHSSB) to carry out repairs. .
The Exco for Housing, Building Management and Urban Life, Iskandar Abdul Samad, said that the reparation will be carried out immediately for the safety and comfort of the residents.
“For the 2015 Budget, RM5 million has been allocated to repair the PPR by the state government,” said Iskandar in a press statement.
He expressed condolences to Norsahura Sahara Mohamad for the loss of her child, Muhammad Hazriq Danish Ain Alden, who has returned to God after falling from the 6th floor.
“I visited her this morning and I could feel the grief experienced by the family,” he said.
Iskandar said that PHSSB is a wholly-owned by the Selangor Housing and Property Board (LPHS).
“It has taken over the maintenance of PPRs from the Petaling Jaya City Council (MBPJ) since 2013,” he said.
He said that the reparation listed consists of the elevators, water pipes and railings at the balcony and stairs. The reparation work will begin as soon as possible.
“To ensure that the safety of the residents is guaranteed, LPHS will also conduct inspections on all PPRs in Selangor in the near future,” he said.
Prior to this, Iskandar said that in 2012, 12 elevators and 8 water pumps were repaired or replaced at a cost of over RM1.16 million at the Kota Damansara PPR.
“As for the Putra Damai PPR in Lembah Subang, 17 elevators and 16 water pumps have been repaired or replaces in the year mentioned at a cost of over RM1.9 million,” he said.
