Although Anwar is in jail, his spirit is still with us

AMPANG, 10 Feb: Selangor PAS assured that they will continue to fight with Pakatan Rakyat (PR) although the Federal Court’s decision today did not favour the de facto leader of the People’s Justice Party (PKR), Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim.

The Selangor PAS Commissioner, Datuk Iskandar Abdul Samad, said that Anwar’s spirit will continue to be upheld even though he will be carrying out the five-year sentence, starting today.

“If we look at it, perhaps BN hopes that PR will be crippled after this decision. I think that this will not happen because even though Anwar is in jail, his spirit is still with us who are on the outside.

“The decision will not cripple PR’s spirit. The fight will continue,” he told Selangor Kini.

A melancholic atmosphere enveloped the compound outside the Federal Court when Anwar, who is also the Opposition Leader, was found guilty and failed when his appeal was rejected in the charge for the Defamation II case.

The court sentenced Anwar to five years in prison, thus witnessing his status as the Permatang Pauh Member of Parliament being disqualified automatically.
