Tian Chua released, magistrate rejects remand application

SHAH ALAM, 21 Mar: The PKR Vice President, Tian Chua, was released from police detention today after the magistrate refused the remand application from the police against the opposition leader.

“The police application for a four-day remand was rejected by the magistrate this morning and ordered for me to be released immediately,” wrote the Batu Member of Parliament on Twitter.

He was released at 12.22 pm.

Tian Chua was arrested yesterday at the Dang Wangi Police Headquarters and was taken to the police station lockup in Jinjang to record his statement.

He is being investigated under Section 143 of the Penal Code for his involvement in the #KitaLawan assembly in the capital on March 7 which was held to demand the release of Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim who is in prison.
