Wan Azizah excited when using ETS to Ipoh

KUALA LUMPUR, 12 Aug: The PKR President’s Mandate tour across the country was continued today by selecting Ipoh, Perak, as the destination.

Interestingly, this trip witnessed the PKR President, Datuk Seri Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail, choosing to use the services of the Malayan Railway Berhad (KTMB), the ETS.

Dressed in a baju kurung, he is famous for her hand fan as a trademark when she arrived about 12.30 pm today at the KL Sentral station.

Wan Azizah’s presence clearly drew attention when many visitors greeted her to take pictures.

Recalling the train experience, Kak Wan was clearly excited when given the opportunity after not using the service for over 20 years.

“During my school days, I used to take the train from Kedah to Seremban to the Tunku Kurshiah College.

“Back then, KTM was not as sophisticated as it is now, but the services now are more satisfying because there is a female coach and is more organised,” she told Selangor Kini.

When asked why she chose to take the ETS, she said that it was because of the opportunity she had despite her business as a leader and mother.

“Despite the opportunity and free time available, I am using the facility as a Member of Parliament because it was included in the provisions as a representative of the people,” she said.

Joining her on the tour was the PKR Vice President, Shamsul Iskandar Mohd Akin and Dr Shaharuddin Badaruddin; the Treasurer-General, Datin Paduka Dr Tan Yee Kew; Information Chief, Syed Ibrahim Syed Noh, and Batu MP, Tian Chua.

The next tour destination is Kedah, followed by Terengganu and will end in Bentong, Pahang, on August 15.
