SHAH ALAM, 11 Sept: The open tender process for solid waste management in Selangor will continue to ensure that it is not monopolised by anyone.
The Chief Minister, Mohamed Azmin Ali, said that he is willing to review the price of the contract offered so that it is in accordance with the growing solid waste management.
“Selangor produces 8,000 tonnes of solid waste a day, but only half is collected and sent to the waste management site.
“We must be prepared to manage the continuous increase of waste in the effort of pursing the Selangor prosperous agenda,” he said.
She said this at the ‘Beyond 3R : A More Sustainable Solution For Selangor Waste Management’ at the Shah Alam Convention Centre (SACC) today.
At the same time, Mohamed Azmin said that the benchmark or standards of care for the environment and solid waste management that is world class must be created in Selangor.
He said that Selangor needs a long-term vision as the state will play host to several mega cities with clean environment and world-class network.
“In the Budget 2016 dialogue session, several matters were discussed and the state government, through the Selangor Economic Action Committee (MTES), has seen some suggestions.
“I hope that the state government’s efforts will receive the support of everyone to ensure that it is successfully implemented,” he said.
