North Peninsula records very unhealthy API

SHAH ALAM, 22 Oct: A total of six areas in the north recorded very unhealthy Malaysia Air Pollutant Index (API) readings of over 200 this morning.

According to the Department of Environment (DOE) website, as of 8 am, the highest reading, 262, was recorded in Seberang Jaya, Perai, Penang.

Five other areas categories as very unhealthy include the University of Science, Malaysia, at 228, Kangar, Perlis (235), and three other areas in Kedah; Alor Setar (218), Bakar Arang, Sungai Petani (237) and Langkawi (230).

Meanwhile, 28 other areas are in unhealthy zones, including five in Selangor; Banting (122), Kuala Selangor (149), Port Klang (161), Petaling Jaya (116) and Shah Alam (139).

On the East Cost, the unhealthy areas are MK Tanjung Chat, Kota Bharu (112), Tanah Merah (119), Kemaman (106), Kuala Terengganu (108) and Balok Baru Kuantan (109).

Staying unhealthy is the City of Malacca (102) and Bukit Rambai (105) in Malacca, as well as Nilai (102) and Seremban (106) in Negeri Sembilan.

Also categorised as unhealthy are five areas in Perak; Jalan Tasek, Ipoh (157), Kampung Air Putih, Taiping (161), S K Jalan Pegoh, Ipoh (173), Seri Manjung (183) and Tanjung Malim (135).

Other areas include Batu Muda,Kuala Lumpur (122), Putrajaya (118) as well as Tawau, Sabah (117) and Kuching, Sarawak (125).
