Five Million People Of Selangor Will Receive Water Shares

SHAH ALAM: Every citizen of Selangor will receive shares from the water industry if Pakatan Rakyat is given mandate to govern Selangor again at the upcoming general elections.

Chief Minister Tan Sri Abdul Khalid Ibrahim explained that this will happen when the State Government successfully acquires the Selangor water industry.

“It is not difficult to calculate. There are five million Selangor citizens. The State Government offered RM9.65 billion. If the RM2,000 shares times five million, it will total to RM10 billion.

“Each Selangor citizen will receive shares. Therefore, the returns from the water industry will profit us and our decedents,” said Abdul Khalid when launching the Ijok election machinery in Ijok, Kuala Selangor yesterday.

It was previously reported that the four private companies managing the water industry in Selangor has responded positively towards the RM9.65 billion offered by the State Government to acquire their operations.

Should the acquisition be successful, the State Government will manage the entire water industry in Selangor so that consumers are given water supply efficiently, adequately and at a reasonable price.

Abdul Khalid said that the offer of water shares translates to his ambitions as a Chief Minister who wants the people of Selangor to own the state’s riches.

“When I was in PNB (Permodalan Nasional Berhad), I left ASB (Amanah Saham Bumiputra) and ASN (Amanah Saham Nasional) for the people of Malaysia.

“When I became CM, my ambitions were for the people of Selangor to own water shares.”

He said that this effort is also the implementation of PR’s principles, which is to make a difference for the people.

“Umno-BN leaders do not do such things. Only Pakatan can. Imagine if we can give a part of Selangor to its people, how then would we would govern Malaysia?

“PR can give the feeling that Malaysia belongs to its people, not others.”
