KUALA LUMPUR, 22 Mar: The Pakatan Rakyat (PR) leaders are grateful for the sacrifice and professionalism of members of the security forces in dealing with the armed intruders in Sabah.

PKR Vice-President, Nurul Izzah Anwar said that the action to criticise the Home Minister, Datuk Hishammudin Hussin and Barisan Nasional (BN) leaders in addressing the issue does not mean that PR leaders are criticising the security forces.

“Now, what is happening is when Barisan Nasional fails to handle the issue, they blame Pakatan Rakyat leaders.

Prior to this, Nurul Izzah took legal action against the New Straits Times (NST) newspaper following the publication of articles stating that she undermined the efforts of the security personnel in Sabah.

Nurul Izzah described the article entitled “Nurul Izzah Hits Out At Police” is malicious for allegedly distorting her speech at a talk in Jemapoh, Negeri Sembilan on 19 March.

She said this during a Pakatan Rakyat talk held at the Sultan Sulaiman Shah Club Field here at Kampung Baru.

Meanwhile, PKR Vice-President, Tian Chua said that he never issued a statement that undermines or insults the security forces as claimed by pro-Umno-BN media.

“What I brought up was the issue of media ‘blackout’ when the Sabah invasion incident took place,” he said.

Kuala Kulai MP, Dr Hatta Ramli said that the action of the mass media in blaming Tian Chua for the invasion is a way BN leaders cover-up their errors and failings regarding the issue.

Also present at the talk was Kepong MP, Dr Tan Seng Giaw and about 1,500 people were present for the programme.
