RAWANG, June 14: The family of private investigator, the late P. Balasubramaniam, 53, received assistance from the State Government which today donated RM10,000 to ease their burden.
The contribution which was presented by the Women’s Affairs and Welfare Exco, Rodziah Ismail, is the initial assistance for the family while the State Government will help Balasubramaniam’s widow to generate her own income.
“My presence to represent the State Government is not just to contribute. (We want to) solve all their problems.
“InsyaAllah, through several schemes introduced by the State Government, we can see ways to help this family directly.
“We hope that everyone who sees this situation will continue to provide support to this family so that their welfare is not compromised,” she said.
Rodziah presented the contribution to the deceased’s widow, A.Santanilselvi, 46, at her home here in Taman Pelangi today.
Among the matters to be addressed is the matter of education for the deceased’s three children, Krishen, 16; Menaga, 15; and Reeshi, 11, who were studying in India for five years.
“They were in India for five years so much so that there is much they have not followed in the (Malaysian) education system. We need to see how it can be resolved quickly.
“We will discuss with the District Education Office regarding this matter as well as help his wife generate income through her desired effort,” she said.
Balasubramaniam or PI Bala, died on 15 March due to heart problems. He is among the important personalities in the controversial murder of Mongolian national, Altantuya Shaariibuu.
Balasubramaniam who previously served with Abdul Razak Baginda, Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak’s special officer, who was charged in court for the murder of Altantuya.
Abdul Razak was acquitted while two policemen were found guilty of her murder.
In July 2008, Balasubramaniam claimed in a statutory declaration (SD1) that Altantuya’s murder involved the highest minister in Najib’s administration.
However, Balasubramaniam made a second statutory declaration (DS2) which denied the allegations in the SD1.
After that, he disappeared overseas and only returned to Malaysia on 24 February.
In one of his talks when he returned and before he died, Balasubramaniam claimed that the disclosure he made in the SD1 was true.
