Eid Al-Adha Celebrated in Gratitude in Selangor

SHAH ALAM, 15 Oct: The good weather, despite rain in the early morning, was used to its fullest by Muslims in this state to celebrate the Eid al-Adha in gratitude.

Over 5,000 Muslims, together with the Sultan of Selangor, Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah, performed the Eid al-Adha prayers at the Sultan Salahuddin Abdul Aziz Shah Mosque in Shah Alam at about 8.30 this morning.

Upon arrival, the Sultan was welcomed by the Chief Minister, Tan Sri Abdul Khalid Ibrahim and his wife, Puan Sri Salbiah Tunut, the State Secretary, Datuk Mohamed Khusrin Munawi and Selangor Executive Councillors including Sallehin Mukhyi and Dr Daroyah Alwi, as well as other state dignitaries.

Soon after the prayers and a Eid al-Adha sermon, the Sultan and Abdul Khalid spent time mingling and shaking hands with the people there.

A total of 39 cows, including two donated by the Sultan, were sacrifices in this mosque and was then distributed to all eligible recipients (asnaf) around Shah Alam.

Meanwhile, the State Government donated 753 cows worth RM2.25 million to be distributed in each district, mosque and Assemblymen throughout the state.
