KUALA LANGAT, 7 Sept: The Sungai Langat Dam has only received a day’s supply of raw water from Sungai Semanta, Pahang, to Sungai Langat.
The Exco for Infrastructure, Public Amenities, Agricultural Modernisation and Agro-Based INdustries, Zaidy Abdul Talib, said that the water capacity at Sungai Langat Dam is now at 50 percent.
“On August 24, 300 million litres of water was pumped for distribution because the Sungai Langat Dam was at a low level of 44.24 percent, but the process was stopped the next day.
“The process had to be stopped because Sungai Semanta also experienced insufficient water for the Water Treatment Plant because the Kelau Baru Dam is still not completed,” he said.
He said this in response to the Sungai Langat Dam water issue where it production had to be stopped until the water was at a safe level.
Zaidy said that however Sungai Langat is now producing 230 million litres a day after receiving water from Sungai Semantan.
“We performed an Inter-Basin Transfer from the Semenyih Dam of 70 million litres a day bringing the Sungai Langat production to 300 million litres a day.
“Cloud seeding was also done especially at the Sungai Langat Dam do that it can continue to operate smoothly without any water scarcity problems,” he said.
