HIJRAH programme open to all races

KAPAR, 7 Sept: The Selangor HIJRAH programme that was introduced by the state government welcomes the participants of non-Bumiputeras.

The HIJRAH Executive Chairman, Datuk Mansor Othman, said that this is because so far the participation of non-Bumiputeras is between 10 to 15 percent.

“HIJRAH is open to all races. So far, only 10 to 15 percent of non-Malays have joined.

“This number concerns us especially since we are open to all races,” he told Selangor Kini after the HIJRAH assistance cheque presentation ceremony at the Datuk Razali Hall.

Also present was the Exco for Health, Welfare, Women and Family Affairs, Dr Daroyah Alwi.

Mansor said that language is one of the factors of less non-Bumiputera participation.

However, he said that they are trying to take in their staff members and officers.

“Various promotional offers are aggressively underway in terms of briefings and various field programmes,” he said.

During the ceremony, 614 recipients received benefits from the programme with an allocation of RM2.65 million for the Kapar Parliament.

The HIJRAH programme was introduced by the Selangor government to boost the poor, including the middle-lass, through RM100 million in funds.
