Tahaluf Siyasi does not Necessarily Focus on GE Issues but Improve Administration

SHAH ALAM, 18 Sept: The Tahaluf Siyasi review or political cooperation should be more focused on issues that strengthen administration and not solely limited to election issues, said Khalid Samad.

“Tahaluf Siyasi is not just for the election. What the people want to see is the ability of PR to rule together.

“This needs to be improved because we want to show that the Pakatan coalition is better than BN. Not just issues of competing in the GE, but the matter of ruling,” said the Selangor PAS Deputy Commissioner.

Previously, Chief of the PAS Ulama Council, Datuk Harun Taip suggested for PAS to revise political cooperation (Tahaluf Siyasi) in Pakatan following claims that the party’s political influence is weakening.

However, the PAS Mursyidul Am, Datuk Nik Abdul Aziz Nik Mat said that the study is only to improve cooperation, rather than being for a purpose that is unfavourable to Pakatan.

The Selangor PAS Deputy Commissioner said that questions regarding leaving the coalition should not arise and that problems between parties in Pakatan should be discussed internally.

He gave the example of the problem of overlapping seats which should be discussed by the top leaders to achieve the best results.

“We hope that problems such as overlapping seats can be handled better with detailed discussions between leaders so that the problem does not recur,” he said.
