Occupants worried shortcut will threaten safety

AMPANG, 11 Feb: The access road that should be used by the occupants of Pangsapuri Inai at Jalan Pandan Indah 20 as the main road is now made into a shortcut for outside vehicles to avoid the congestion at the Sungai Besi Highway (Besraya).

This situation has led the occupants at the apartment needing to face tremendous congestion in their housing area, especially in the morning and peak hours, due to the growing number of vehicles entering and exiting.

The Chairman of the Management Corporation (MC) of Block A, B, C and D of Pangsapuri Inai, Samsuddin Hashim, said that other than congestion, the residents face safety threats, especially among children who face danger as the route is filled with vehicles.

“When we received the approval to build a fence and close the route, it angered those outside, including the residents of Pangsapuri Inai Block E, F, G and H.

“The other side did not want to discuss it, instead they broke down the fence that we built for the safety of the residents about a year ago.

“The influx of outside vehicles is very high here and causes residents to complain for this shortcut to be immediately closed,” he said.

In addition, he said that the residents also face parking problems because of the people who want to go to the light rapid transit (LRT) station nearby park their vehicles in the apartment area.

He said that he intends to provide special stickers for vehicles, especially for the residents there, and seek approval from the relevant authorities for the alternative route to be closed and replaced by another access.

“The problem of waste is also an issue when many vehicles pass through this area. So, I hope that it can be solved in stages in the interest of the residents,” he added.
