SHAH ALAM, 8 June: The Selangor State Development Corporation (PKNS) denied allegations that there was a practice of cronyism regarding the issue of the sales of detached homes at Bukit Botak in Selayang that has cause dissatisfaction among buyers.
The PKNS Public Relations Manager, Ishak Hashim, said that PKNS, as the developer, only built the housing project which was placed under their responsibility by the Selangor Government.
He said that the entire process of determining the names of squatters is under the coordination of the Gombak District Land Office, with the approval of the State Government.
“Meanwhile, the list of public applications was adjusted by PKNS and any decision and rulings were done by the State Government, through the Selangor Housing and Property Board (LPHS).
“To this day, sales to the general public have not been decided until the issue regarding offers to squatters is completed,” he said in a statement.
PKNS was given the trust to resolve the issue of the redevelopment of the squatter homes at Bukit Botak, consisting of 1,422 units of semi-detached homes involving a total subsidy of RM80 million.
The project was fully completed in December 2012 after the Selangor Pakatan Rakyat (PR) Government took over the land area which was supposed to be developed by a private developer.
Earlier, the Executive Councillor in charge of Housing, Building Management and Urban Settlers, Iskandar Abdul Samad, said that they received many complaints from the public who are not satisfied because they claimed the selection criteria for home buyers are not clear.
He also informed that there have been claims that the cooperation failed to properly manage the many people who came to buy the houses, to a point where some had to wait overnight in front of the PKNS sales office.
