SELCAT: CM Orders Azlan to Safeguard Interests of PKNS Employees

SHAH ALAM, 25 Mar: The Chief Minister of Selangor, Tan Sri Abdul Khalid Ibrahim, reiterated that the contract termination of 20 PKNS Holdings Sdn Bhd (PHSB) staff in early February was not on his orders as the Chairman of the Selangor State Development Corporation (PKNS).

He said that the decision was made by the newly appointed General Manager of PKNS, Azlan Alifiah, as part of the restructuring of PKNS’ administration.

He said that he agreed after examining the report or strategic studies done by Azlan, in addition to directing the state government secretary to monitor the implementation process.

“The first thing I asked Azlan to do after starting work (as General Manager) was to safeguard the interests of PKNS employees (human resource assets), so he conducted a study and submitted the report to me.

“As the Chairman, I received it, read and found it suitable to be implemented,” he said.

He was responding to questions from the Select Committee on Competency, Accountability and Transparency (SELCAT) at the public hearing session regarding the ‘Selangor State Development Corporation Recovery Strategy – Implementation of the Integrity Pact, here today.

On 3 February, 20 PHSB employees with contractual status were terminated and the move, which was later announced by the Chief Minister, could lead to savings of RM7 million.

Commenting on the substantial savings, Abdul Khalid said that the sum involved did not just involve salaries, but also takes into account other financial factors.

“From my experience in the corporate world, we must also take into account other matters such as insurance payments, medical expenses, travel expenses, bonuses and so on.

“I will give the details of the calculations made to the committee (SELCAT),” he said.
