Developers that Sell Low-Cost Houses at High Price Blacklisted

SHAH ALAM, 19 Dec: The State Government is taking the actions of any developer that tries to sell low-cost houses at higher prices, on grounds that renovations were made, seriously.

The Executive Councillor for Housing, Building Management and Urban Settlement, Iskandar Abdul Samad, said that they will blacklist developers if they are found forcing buyers pay for renovation.

He said that owners of low-cost houses are entitled to object or reject the renovation offers carried out by developers without their consent.

“The minimum selling price for low-cost housing is set at RM42,000 each, except for urban settlers who have been moved, where the set rate is at RM35,000 each.

“This price is controlled by the state government and developers cannot sell at prices other than this,” he said in statement today.

However, Iskandar said that buyers who agree with the renovation package are advised to compare the cost of the renovation between that of the developers and other contractors.

He said that buyers who are forced by developers to receive the renovation package should promptly report to the Selangor Housing and Property Board (LPHS) at 03-55447078 or 03-55447199.
