MH370: Form Parliamentary Select Committee, Reject Investigation After Finding Black Box

SHAH ALAM, 28 Mar: The Member of Parliament for Gelang Patah, Lim Kit Siang, has asked the cabinet to support the establishment of a Parliamentary Select Committee on MH370, led by the opposition in Parliament, regardless if the black box is found or not.
He said immediate action to establish a Parliamentary Select Committee on MH370, led by the Opposition, is important for two reasons.

“First, the confidence of people from within and out of the country of Malaysia and the Federal Government can be restored because the move to establish the committee will give a clear message that the country is not trying to hide something and is striving to give transparency and full disclosure regarding the MH370 tragedy.

“Second, early work should be carried out immediately to launch an inquiry into the MH370 tragedy,” he said, quoted from Harakah Daily today.

He said that the Parliamentary Select Committee, led by the opposition, should also form a Parliamentary inquiry for the MH370 tragedy that pools resources and expertise of 26 countries because Malaysia is a leader in the SAR operations.

“I call on the minister in the cabinet meeting tomorrow (today) to reject the proposal to conduct investigations only after the black box is found.

“First, this shows that we seem to be avoiding a full investigation and two, because it will be seen by the world as an attempt by the Malaysian government to pursue a policy that is not accountable and transparent,” he said.
