SHAH ALAM, NOV 14: The Smart City International Conference to be held in December offers opportunities for industry players to cooperate with the State Government in efforts to turn Selangor into a Smart State.

Selangor Information Technology and E-trade Council (SITEC) Chief Executive Officer Yong Kai Ping said that industry players can showcase their knowledge or solutions, thereby assisting the State Government.

“This is a platform to encourage them to cooperate with the State Government to develop this industry.

“I think we are looking for service providers to be brought forward and some to be taken abroad.

“Hence, this meeting is important for us to discuss and understand the trend as well as the appropriate solutions,” he said to SelangorKini.

The organisation of the 2016 Smart City International Conference at Saujana Hotel, Shah Alam is a cooperative effort between the State Government, Menteri Besar Incorporated (MBI), Smart Selangor Delivery Unit (SSDU) and SITEC.

Yong said the conference will provide awareness on the Internet of Things and the Big Data Analytics model; in addition to sharing experiences, knowledge and building a network of relationships with other countries.

“Smart City Development in India and Barcelona is a big project, not only via the government but also with participation by the private sector, which also plays an important role.

“Services provided will reduce daily burdens, so I think that Smart City technology will make people happy and therefore, we need to be heading in that direction,” he said.
