CM: No need to present White Paper on water issue

SHAH ALAM, 13 June: The Chief Minister, Tan Sri Abdul Khalid Ibrahim, said that there is no need for the State Government to present the White Paper regarding the water crisis that happened in the Klang Valley and Putrajaya, as suggested by the Member of Parliament for Kota Tinggi.

He said that the Selangor Government does not want to waste time or money to prepare the White Paper regarding the water issue and urged that it must be provided by the Federal Government if the situation demanded it.

He said that the State Government’s target now is to correct decisions and operations regarding the restructuring of the water industry that was done by the previous government.

“He (Kota Tinggi MP) should be more worried about the administration of the Selangor government prior to 2008.

“After Pakatan Rakyat (PR) took control of the state administration, we have been ready to restructure the water industry as a testimony that the State Governments wants to fix the shortage of raw water and treated water for the needs of the people in the Klang Valley and Putrajaya.

“We will not bother to prepare the White Paper, but it will embarrass the central government because the ruling party prior to 2008 did not do a good job,” he said at a press conference after attending the I-City Investors Briefing programme for the development of the I-City Mall yesterday.

Earlier, the New Straits Times reported that the Kota Tinggi MP, Datuk Noor Ehsanuddin Mohd Harun Narrashid, suggested for the Selangor Government to present the White Paper regarding the impact of the water crisis in the Klang Valley and Putrajaya that has happened since 2010.
