BN minister still refuses to meet Selangor EXCO over housing issues

SHAH ALAM, 22 JUNE: The National Alliance (BN) is welcomed to build the 1Malaysia People’s Housing Project (PR1MA) in Selangor to ensure all citizens have the opportunity to purchase their own homes.
State Exco in charge of Housing, Building Management and Urban Settlers, Iskandar Abdul Samad said Selangor government has no problem in cooperating with the Federal government for the sake of the people.

“An application has been submitted by PR1MA to purchase some land owned by Perbadanan Kemajuan Negeri Selangor (PKNS) in Bernam Jaya and we (state government) has agreed.

“There is no problem with if BN wants to purchase it for the benefits of the people. We are ready to work together,” he said when commenting about the affordable housing issue during the recent State Assembly Seating (DNS).

However, the Federal government will need to follow procedures and abide by the set of rules by the state government if they wish to purchase lands from PKNS.

“Everything has to be in accordance to the law and this applies to PR1MA as well. We will not object to it just because it’s a project of the Federal government,” he said.

He also hopes that a meeting between himself and the Chief Minister will take place soon to further discuss on the housing issues in Selangor.

The housing issue is something that we will give extra attention to because many of the residents wish to purchase a house of their own in Selangor.

“I have requested to meet with the Housing Minister because housing issues are considered national issues, but I have yet to receive a reply as of now.

“This is serious as we will need to accommodate those who works in Kuala Lumpur and Putrajaya but wants to purchase homes in Selangor,” he added.
