“For example, they are qualified to apply for public housing; which is currently being constructed at a few districts within the state.”

“Assistance in the form of training and skills will be offered to unemployed youths, single mothers, handicapped individuals, retirees, and ‘Orang Asal’ in order to allow them to start small businesses or apply for jobs suited to their abilities,” said Abdul Khalid in an Aidilfitri Message.

Abdul Khalid said, action and efforts are taken to assist these individuals when faced with the current price hikes of goods and other services currently not available to them due to certain parties.

A few new programmes were launched, starting early 2014. Among those,a program was launched to uplift the development of traditional villages and also new villages.

“These efforts are done to uplifht the economy and income of the rural towns compared to the higher income of the city residents.”

“Our research also found that the programmes for rural towns launched by the Federal Government failed to assist in uplifting the economy of the rural town’s residents,” said Abdul Khalid.
