Cooperation important in achieving clean toilets, premises around Subang Jaya

SUBANG JAYA, 20 Nov: The Subang Jaya Municipal Council (PSJ) asks everyone to cooperate in making the effort to create clean toilets and food premises a success in this city.

The Deputy Mayor, Abdullah Marjunid, said that the people should practice the culture of good hygiene for the sake of mutual interest.

He said that MPSJ will continue to play a role in increasing monitoring and inspection activities at food premises around the administrative area.

“As of October, 2,061 premises were inspected and most of them received Grade B, with 54 percent, while 17 others were ordered to close due to the unsatisfactory level of cleanliness.

“For the inspection of public toilets, during the same period, 1,496 toilets were evaluated and we found that only 55 toilets received five stars,” he said when officiating the Toilet and Food Premises Cleanliness Awareness Campaign Ceremony in conjunction with the World Toilet Day 2014 at the IOI Boulevard yesterday.

The event was jointly organised by the Rotary Club and was also attended by the Assemblyman for Kinrara, Ng Sze Han; the representative of the World Toilet Organisation (WTO), Amandine Brunet, and the representative of the Rotary Club Puchong Centennial, Alan Chan.

Meanwhile, Sze Han also reminded all parties to appreciate the toilet facilities provided for the sake of common interest.

“We are fortunate that Malaysia provides a lot of public toilet facilities that are not like other places that are less fortunate.

“But the challenge is whether we can make sure that the toilet is clean,” he said.

In conjunction with the World Toilet Day, MPSJ and the Rotary Club also provided toilet and food premises inspection around Jalan Kenari, Puchong Jaya, since November 18.

Ten of the premises inspected were acknowledged and received awards from MPSJ, including Neway KTV, Donut Cafe, Imperial Cafe and the U Dessert Cafe.

Meanwhile, three schools also received the same award for having the cleanest toilets during the inspection in conjunction with the Tranquil School Award Contest recently.

These schools are Sekolah Menengah Kebangsaan (SMK) Subang Utama, SMK USJ 13, and Sekolah Jenis Kebangsaan Cina (SJKC) Yak Chee.
