PR’s strength able to avoid the repeat of Anwar’s black eye incident

SHAH ALAM, 11 Feb: The power and position of Pakatan Rakyat (PR) this time is able to put pressure on the Barisan Nasional government to release Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim earlier.

The Hulu Kelang Assemblyman, Saari Sungib, said that some of the 1998 activists and fighters of reform are now elected representatives, in addition to governing three states and having their own media to provide strength so that bad incidents against Anwar do not recur.

“With the advantages we have, we hope that there will not be any more black eye incidents, arsenic poisoning and so on,” he told Selangor Kini.

Meanwhile, the Seri Andalas Assemblyman, Dr Xavier Jayakumar, condemned the move by the judges in leaving their seats when Anwar spoke in the chambers after the sentence was passed.

“When the dark history of Nelson Mandela being tried in court by the white skinned apartheid regime judges, they sat and listened to Nelson Mandela speak for 2 hours and 15 minutes,” quipped Dr Xavier.

At the same time, the Selangor State Assembly Speaker, who is also the Subang Jaya Assemblyman, Hannah Yeoh, actively lobbied for the public to sign a petition of protest against Anwar’s sentence.

“Dear God, comfort Anwar tonight in that cell. Comfort his wife, children and grandchildren tonight as they long for him,” she wrote on her official Facebook page.
