SHAH ALAM, 19 Feb: The Sepang Member of Parliament, Mohamed Hanipa Maidin, is ready to debate openly with senior lawyer Datuk Muhammad Shafee Abdullah regarding Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim’s Defamation II case.
The former lawyer said that if his response is answered, the debate should be held at any public university in the country and at the same time should also be broadcast live by RTM or TV3.
“This is so that the people in this country can receive direct information about what is being said by members of the panel.
“If Shafee is uncomfortable to debate with me, I am willing to debate with the Malaysian Umno Youth Chief, Khairy Jamaluddin, on the same issue,” he said in a statement.
Yesterday, Khairy expressed his desire to hold a series of roadshows across the country with Shafee’s to clarify the case.
However, Hanipa said that there is something amiss about this effort since the case is settled and Anwar is in prison.
“Lawyer Shafee is continuing to issue statement, including attacking Anwar in newspapers and the latest at a forum organised by Umno,” he added.
