SHAH ALAM, 19 Oct: The University of Selangor (UNISEL) has achieved another milestone by making a name in the Malaysian Book of Records.
Recently, located at the Shah Alam Lake in Section 7, UNISEL made a record by building the ‘Biggest and Fastest Jalur Gemilang’.
In a statement issued by its Corporate Department, 36 students from Strangerz Dance Club UNISEL, together with the Tasotanini non-governmental organisation (NGO), were involved in the success of this programme.
The Chairman of Strangerz Dance Club, Ruben Raj, said that the purpose of the programme is toe prove that UNISEL is also able to create national records.
“It is also in conjunction with the spirit of patriotism expressed through such programmes.
“Actually, it was planned for the last independence month, but it had to be postponed due to inevitable reasons,” he said.
The largest floating flag that is 10 feet long and 63 feet wide was made using 25,000 plastic bottles and was completed in just three weeks.
The ceremony was officiated by the Vice President and also the Deputy Vice Chancellor of Student Development and the UNISEL Community Network, Prof Dr Shaharuddin Badaruddin, and witnessed by the President and also the Vice Chancellor of UNISEL, Prof Dr Anuar Ahmad, and the Kota Anggerik Assemblyman, Yaakob Sapari.
In the programme, 400 people participated in the 5.5 kilometre Eco Friendly Fun Run that began at UNISEL and ended at the Shah Alam Lake.
