SHAH ALAM, July 27: The people of Selangor will be honed to become a caring community which likes to help one another through the concept of public welfare which will be adopted in State Government welfare programmes.

The Exco in charge of Welfare and Women’s Affairs, Rodziah Ismail said through the concept, the less fortunate would be taken care of and they would receive guidance from those capable.

She said that groups talented in a particular field can help and educate the needy.

“I want to culture the Selangor community to have a giving and social attitude.

“Contributions do not necessarily mean in the form of money, but expertise, time, or whatever is necessary.

“That is why we want to bridge the gap between the professionals with the lower groups, the poor with the rich and of those with status and those with none.”

She said this to TVSelangor after the Women’s Empowerment Centre (PWB) Shawwal Caring Programme here at Batu Tiga today.

She explained that welfare issues cannot be placed solely on the shoulders of the State Government, but must be shouldered by all parties.

She stressed that the State Government will always think of safety nets for the people.

“To change towards that direction, people from all walks of life need to be honed to be directly involved.

“Everyone would contribute what they have, and what they are capable of according to each one’s capacity,” she said.

During the event, Rodziah also distributed clothing donations from the public to the poor residents of the Batu Tiga constituency in conjunction with the Aidilfitri celebration this year.
