Abdul Samah the New Selangor Chief of Police

SHAH ALAM, 12 May: Datuk Abdul Samah Mat will be the new Selangor Chief of Police effective this Wednesday, replacing Datuk Mohd Shukri Dahlan who is retiring.

The handover of duty ceremony took place at the Selangor Contingent Police Headquarters and was witnessed by the Bukit Aman Royal Malaysian Police Management Department Director, Datuk Mohamad Fuzi Harun.

Abdul Samah, 57, was previously the Director-General of the Protection Division in the Prime Minister’s Department for seven months and was formerly the Bukit Aman Criminal Investigations Department (CID) Deputy Director from 2012 to October 2013.

While Mohd Shukri previously served as the Police Chief in Terengganu before moving to Perak and finally ended his service in Selangor, in which he served for nearly eight months.

“I will focus more on public safety and crime prevention, besides increasing the quality of service. This is to ensure the public get better service and our members can perform their duties well,” he said, quoted from MStar Online.

Meanwhile, Mohd Shukri said he was proud that during his service (as Selangor Police Chief), the crime rate had gone down by 11.73 per cent.
