KUALA LUMPUR, 27 May: The Finance Minister, Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak should provide details of the loan and interest payments for 1Malaysia Development Berhad (1MDB) to the public.
Rafizi Ramli (PKR-Pandan), during a question and answer session at the Dewan Rakyat, asked for clarification about the details of the interest and principle payments for loans or bonds by 1MDB during the period starting January 2015 until the completion of the debt.
But through the answers given, the details have not been audited and it is a practice for companies to only submit details that have been audited to the public so that the information given is accurate, detailed and certified by the auditor.
“The reason the Minister of Finance gave that the 2015 financial statements have not been completed is unacceptable and unreasonable.
“He could just order 1MDB to refer to financial statements that have been audited for 2014 to give detailed information without disrupting the 2015 audit,” he said at the Parliament lobby.
He added that the refusal to provide details strengthens doubts that the Prime Minister is probably using public funds to pay the 1MDB’s principal and debt interests.
