Mat Taib: Umno Has No Spirit of Islam

SHAH ALAM, 5 Apr: The former Chief Minister of Selangor, Tan Sri Muhammad Muhd Taib, stressed that his move to leave Umno after realising that life is not just on earth, but will also move on to the afterlife.

Muhammad, better known as Mat Taib, said that the country’s administration is becoming more spoiled and its leaders are not interested in correcting the situation, as thought by religion.

“The preacher at the mosque said that our role is to invite to good and forbid evil (amar makruf nahi mungkar).

“As soon as we leave the mosque, turn on the TV, we see a lot of dishonour and sin,” he said at the Johor PAS 60 Years Carnival which was held here at Parit Tarom yesterday.

Also at the event were the PAS Vice President, Mohamad Sabu and the PAS Commissioner, Johor Aminolhuda Hassan.

In relation to that, Muhammad, who is also the Deputy Chairman of the Central Information and Media Relations Council, said that the existing leaders should be changed and that is why he joined PAS.

“We want to safely move of to the afterlife. Prophet Muhammad said that is we want to be saved, we have to follow the Quran and Sunnah. Indeed, during Umno’s time they built suraus, went for the Hajj, umrah, Tarawih prayers, but the spirit was not there.

“The right was done, but the wrong was done too. Even dancing was done,” he said, quoted from Harakah Daily.
