Pakatan Rakyat Expresses Support for Anwar

SHAH ALAM, 8 Mar: Pakatan Rakyat expresses full support for the Opposition Leader, Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim, at the Pakatan Rakyat Convention held at Setia City Convention Centre today.

The PAS Deputy President, Mohamad Sabu, said that on the 7th of March, when Anwar was sentenced to five years imprisonment by the Court of Appeal hurriedly, was a dark spot in history that will not weaken Pakatan Rakyat.

Instead, he said that the decision will strengthen Pakatan Rakyat even more in facing the Kajang by-election.

“7 March, Datuk Seri Anwar was sentenced to five years in prison, we see efforts done by them, including expediting the trial, so much so that the court worked overtime with hopes to end his political career which will slow our progress to Putrajaya.

“This 8 March incident, with the holding of this convention, will strengthen PR and Kajang will be a huge measure of success come 23 March,” he said during the opening speech at the Pakatan Rakyat Convention today.

Mohamad added that the government or Umno can take whatever they want, but they cannot take the spirit of the people who are rising up with Pakatan Rakyat’s fight.

Support was also expressed by the DAP Deputy Chairman, Tan Kok Wai, who deemed the decision as an organised plan seeking to destroy Pakatan Rakyat and BN can continue to rob the people.

“Every persecution, imprisonment, prosecution and tyranny, we will overcome them together because good will triumph over evil, because light will overcome darkness,” he said, reported by Harakahdaily.

In the meantime, he urged leaders and members of Pakatan Rakyat to be prepared for BN’s dirty tactics and to strengthen Pakatan so that the road to Putrajaya will be successful.
