Royal Commission to investigate the mastermind behind MAS losses

KUALA LUMPUR, 11 June: Pakatan Rakyat (PR) has urged the Royal Commission of Inquiry to investigate those responsible for causing losses to Malaysia Airlines System (MAS).

Hanipa Maidin (PAS-Sepang) who submitted the proposal, said that the Public Accounts Committee (PAC) should also be authorised to investigate one of the reasons for the dismissal of employees which is ‘MAS failure to compete in the market’.

“As the Sepang MP, I received a large turnout of employees who are not satisfied by the way they were dismissed.

“Making competition among the factors of dismissal is not something that is acceptable. The action shows that there is no commitment to find out why MAS is experiencing losses,” he said.

Hanipa said that he has received some information regarding the dismissal of MAS employees, but it cannot be made public in order to protect the safety of those who have received new job offers.

He stressed that the employee dismissal process should be stopped as long as the commission has not yet been established.
