Selangor records excellence of 95.2% for SMA examination, 100% for SMATQ

Klang, 27 Jan: The overall results of the Religious Secondary School (SMA) examinations for the state of Selangor for 2014 is outstanding with 95.2 percent, an increase of 2.8 percent compared to 2013.

The results were announced by the Director of the Selangor Islamic Religious Department (JAIS), Datuk Haris Kasim, at the Tahfiz Science Integrated Institution Hall during a ceremony graced by the Exco for Islamic Religion, Datuk Dr Ahmad Yunus Hairi.

Also announced was the results of the Al Quran Tahfiz Religious Secondary Certificate (SMATQ), which remained at 100 percent as the year before.

For SMA, 670 candidates received the rank of Mumtaz (Excellent), 1,032 candidates attained the rank of Jayyid Jiddan (Very Good), 758 candidates received the rank of Jayyif (Good), 623 received Maqbul (Pass) while 231 candidates received Rasib (Fail).

The results showed an improvement in the performance of candidates for the rank of Mumtaz, with 8 percent, and the rank of Jayyid Jiddan, with 4 percent.

For SMATQ, 29 candidates attained the rank of Mumtaz, 84 attained Jayyid Jiddan, 9 candidates received Jayyid and 1 Maqbul.

However, the results this year saw a decline in candidates who received the Mumtaz rank, with more than 20 percent, while the rank of Jayyid went down by 1 percent.

Candidates who received the rank of Jayyid Jiddan went up by 22 percent and for Maqbul, 1 percent.

A total of 3,314 candidates sat for the SMA in 2014 compared to 3,160 candidates for 2013; an increase of 154 candidates.
