CM: Serious about controlling dengue, cooperation with federal government strengthened

SHAH ALAM, 27 Jan: The Selangor government is serious about combating dengue by strengthening cooperation and programmes with the federal government to address the issue.

The Chief Minister, Mohamed Azmin Ali, rejected allegations that the state government is tired in addressing the dengue issue.

Instead, he urged the party issuing the statement to check the facts regarding the issue.

“I personally welcomed the Minister of Health to Selangor so that every decision made is collective between the central government and the state.

“We have taken proactive measures to launch a terjah and destroy Aedes campaign with me being directly involved with all Assemblymen to launch the programme in every district and localities that record a high number of cases,” said Mohamed Azmin.

He said this at the launching ceremony of the Selangorku Lambaian Kaabah programme at the Tengku Ampuan Jemaah Mosque, here in Bukit Jelutong.

He explained that the move to combat dengue must be done in an integrated manner, involving all parties such as the Ministry of Health, the state government, local authorities, district Health Offices and the state.

“There are a number of actions taken which require close cooperation between the central government and the state,” he said.

Previously, the Deputy Minister of Health, Datuk Seri Hilmi Yahya, said that Selangor recorded the highest number of cases of more than 1,000 cases within a week.
