CM: SelangorKini is transparent, publishes news from the opposition, public complaints & constructive criticism

SHAH ALAM, 28 Nov: The official newspaper of the Selangor government, Selangor Kini, sticks by the principles of media and journalistic professionalism when publishing news in a transparent manner, including those from the opposition (Barisan Nasional).

The Chief Minister, Mohamed Azmin Ali, said that this was proven through the publication of news from the Assemblyman for Semenyih, dated November 7, and the Assemblyman of Kuang on November 14.

“Selangor Kini is published to communicate state government policies and programmes to improve the enlightenment of the people.

“Adhering to the principles of media and journalistic professionalism, Selangor Kini does not only publish the story from one side only, but also the opposition which often criticises the state government,” he said, being welcomed by the thumping of tables by other Assemblymen in support.

He said this during the Selangor State Assembly session today.

In addition, Mohamed Azmin said that the people can also voice local concerns, and in fact, criticise government agencies through the ‘what is the case’ segment which is the people’s medium of complaints in Selangor Kini.

He said that the new management of Menteri Besar Incorporated (MBI) has also been asked to look at the restructuring of Communication Corporation Sdn Bhd (CCSB) which manages the newspaper.

“The new management of MBI in early December has been asked to look at the restructuring of CCSB to ensure the effectiveness of the communication channels, including management costs and good governance,” said the Assemblyman for Bukit Antarabangsa.

In the meantime, he said that he does not prevent the review for the reproduction of the Selangor Times, based on need and operation costs.

In fact, he said that the publication of Selangor Indru (Tamil version newspaper) will also be reviewed to enable to newspaper to be published at least two to three times a month.
