CM: “Let their drama be a comedy to be remembered forever”

SHAH ALAM, 22 Sept: The Chief Minister, Tan Sri Abdul Khalid Ibrahim, wants civil servants to continue serving the people and to not follow the rhythm of politicians in the administration of the government.

“Let politicians fight. Let politicians act and be in dramas. We will continue to work.

“Let their drama be a comedy to be remembered forever,” said Abdul Khalid in front of about 1,000 civil servants at his farewell ceremony here at the State Secretary’s (SUK) Building foyer today.

Throughout being in the seat as the Chief Minister of Selangor, Abdul Khalid was considered as a rigid leader who separated his administration from political influence.

His actions, although not liked by some political party leaders, were supported by civil servants because it was considered as facilitating the administrative machinery and avoiding the practice of corruption.

Abdul Khalid, in his final speech, challenged his successor to return the profits of the water asset to the people.

He said that his successor will have to return the water assets worth RM14 billion in shares as promised by Pakatan Rakyat (PR) in the 13th General Election (GE13) manifesto.

“Otherwise, the people will punish them because they had promised it in the last general election manifesto,” he said in his speech.

“This is my challenge to the next leader,” he said.
