CM: WSIA used to acquire Splash

SHAH ALAM, 16 July: The State Government is ready to use the Water Services Industry Act 2006 (WSIA) to acquire Syarikat Pengeluaran Air Selangor (Splash) if the company still refuses to accept the price previously offered by the State Government.

The Chief Minister, Tan Sri Abdul Khalid Ibrahim, said that one of the options available is to use the WSIA.

“I will ask the Minister of Water and Energy to use the power he has,” said Abdul Khalid during a press conference after the Executive Council meeting today.

Previously, three out of the four water concessionaires in Selangor agreed to accept the price offered by the State Government to allow the State Government to acquire the three companies.

The companies are, the Selangor Water Supply Company (Syabas), Puncak Niaga Sdn Bhd (PNSB) and Konsortium Abbass Sdn Bhd (Abbas), while Splash is still seeking a more attractive offer from the State Government.
