SEKINCHAN, 15 July: Difference in religion, customs and culture did not prevent the Assemblyman for Sekinchan, Ng Suee Lim, to celebrate the Ramadan month with the Muslim community in Sekinchan with various programmes.
Among the activities held throughout the Ramadan this time is the distribution of 500 containers of porridge every Wednesday at the Sekinchan Ramadan Bazaar.
“In this holy month, we got to know the Muslim community here better. Relationship between communities here can improve through this method,” said Suee Lim to Selangor Kini.
Suee Lim also attended several Iftar feasts organised by the local community, such as the feast organised by the Village Security and Development Committee (JKKK) of Parit 7 and Tali Air 7.
During the event, Suee Lim also donated a box of dates to the villagers.
Early morning on July 14, Suee Lim also took the opportunity of the FIFA World Cup finals by organising a Let’s Watch Football programme while enjoying durian and celebrating the Sahur together.
“At the programme this morning, people, regardless if they were Malay, Chinese or Indians, all supported their respective teams while having the Sahur meal.
“The non-Muslim community here personally received knowledge and found out how the Muslims fast,” he said.
