CM : Sand theft, land owners may have their land seized

SHAH ALAM 1 JUNE : Chief Minister, Tan Sri Abdul Khalid Ibrahim warned all land owners in the state to not allow sand thieves to operate anywhere within the state.

The State Government will issue a notice to reclaim the lands from the owners if this happens.

He said that his office has notified all district offices regarding the act to reclaim lands.

“This is a reminder to land owners that in the event of any intrusion for the purpose of sand theft activities on private land, the district offices will issue a notice to seize the land.

“So, land owners shall make sure that their land is free from intrusion or they might lose ownership of their land,” he said at a press conference held in Dewan Jubli Perak, after officiating a Neighbourhood Safety Apartments Scheme (SEROJA).

Besides that, Abdul Khalid refutes claims from Umno Selangor Chief, Datuk Seri Noh Omar who feels that the special officers assigned by Semesta Group Sdn Bhd (KSSB) were not effective in handling the issue.

He said the district officers and KSSB officers were efficient and played a major role to solve the issue.

“The district officers and KSSB officers executed their jobs efficiently and will continue to take stern action regarding sand theft cases,” he said.

He added that the State Government always views sand thefts as a serious problem and will continue to take stern action just like before.
