Abolishing 2 tolls in Shah Alam only a gimmick by Selangor Umno

SHAH ALAM, 3 June: The statement by the Selangor Umno Liaison Chairman, Datuk Seri Noh Omar, pledging to make an appeal to the Federal Government to abolish two toll plazas along the Federal Highway in Shah Alam is merely seen as a political gimmick.

The Executive Councillor for Plantation Workers, Poverty and Caring Government, V.Ganabatirau, said that the move is believed to also be linked with pressure by the Selangor Pakatan Rakyat (PR), which previously repeatedly urged for the two toll plazas on the highway to be abolished immediately.

“I think that he is just continuing Barisan Nasional (BN) gimmicks, in fact I believe that this is due to pressure from PR, forcing the Federal Government to review the elimination of the toll.

“Perhaps Noh would also like to take this opportunity to raise up his name,” he said through an SMS text message to Selangor Kini today.

The Assemblyman for Kota Alam Shah said that the two tolls are very burdensome to users, especially those earning a low-income and causes serious traffic congestion in the morning and evening.

On June 1, the Selangor Umno informed that they will plead to the Federal Government in an effort to abolish the two toll plazas at the Federal Government at Batu Tiga and Sungai Rasau.

Noh said that he would make the appeal to the Federal Government and does not rule out the possibility of voicing this issue in Parliament.
