PORT KLANG, 18 Nov: The Klang Municipal Council (MPK) has been asked to go to the ground to explain to the people that the city of Klang will face temporary congestion due to the construction of the third bridge in the Royal City.
The Chief Minister, Tan Sri Abdul Khalid Ibrahim, said that MPK Council Members will hopefully help explain the issue of the congestion which will be faced to improve conditions for the people in the city.
“I want to say that there is a huge programme, which is to the construction of the bridge to solve congestion.
“I hope that MPK will provide information about what we are doing so that the overall congestion can be overcome with this temporary congestion faced to construct the Klang bridge,” he said.
Abdul Khalid said this when inaugurating the State Legislative Assembly (DUN) Deepavali celebrations at the Bukit Tinggi Dua Flats in Port Klang last night.
Also present was the Member of Parliament for Klang, Charles Santiago, the MP for Kapar, Manivanan Gowin, MPK Council Members and over 300 residents of the flats.
Abdul Khalid said that the construction of the bridge has started and he has asked the Selangor State Assembly to agree to approve the construction of the bridge.
The state government plans to use an allocation of RM300 million from the state reserves, which amounts to RM3 billion, to implement the project.
Previously, the Barisan Nasional (BN) Government promised to build the third bridge in year 2008, however did not fulfil the promise despite conducting a groundbreaking ceremony.
The construction of the two-kilometre bridge is expected to help over 200,000 vehicles to not need to go through heavily congested traffic in the heart of Klang to go to Kuala Lumpur or Port Klang.
