Khalid Samad: Chin Cheh’s Actions Much Different Compared to the 2009 Party Jumping Phenomenon

SHAH ALAM, 30 Jan: The Member of Parliament for Shah Alam, Khalid Abdul Samad, congratulated Parti Keadilan Rakyat (PKR) in choosing a candidate who has very high commitment to bring the aspirations of Pakatan Rakyat (PR) in the 13th General Election.

This was proven when the Assemblyman for Kajang, Lee Chin Cheh, willingly sacrificed in giving up his office to ensure that the Selangor PR government can defend any threats from Barisan Nasional (BN).

“Not only did Chin Cheh not sell his seat and jump parties, but he was willing to vacate it at the request of his own party.

“This is a very big difference with the 2009 party jumping phenomenon. Previously, they jumped and were treacherous (BN). Now after the GE13, he (Chin Cheh) showed high character so much so that he was willing to sacrifice his seat on the orders of the party,” he said in a press statement held at the Shah Alam ember of Parliament’s Office today.

Khalid said that such actions are contrary to the practice among BN leaders who always fight for positions, including the Assemblyman seat.

“If it was BN, not only would it be hard for them to let go of the seat if asked, but they will scramble to get it through bribery and so on. This is different which Chin Cheh who was willing to sacrifice,” he said.

He also urged the voters in Kajang to not waste Chin Cheh’s sacrifice by ensuring victory for the PKR de facto leader, Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim, as the new Assemblyman.
