SHAH ALAM, NOV 18: A total of 50 participants including celebrity nasyid groups, motorcycle groups and zakat contributors had joined the “Wheel 4 Ummah’ four-wheel-drive convoy yesterday, organised by the Selangor Zakat Board (LZS).
The convoy which started from Shah Alam towards Hulu Selangor was aimed to create awareness to the people regarding the practice in a more casual manner while informing zakat contributors on distribution information.
Through the programme, the participants were brought to attend the Education Aid Distribution Ceremony for children of eligible zakat recipients (asnaf). The aid was given out by Selangor Islamic Religious Council (MAIS) Chairman, Dato’ Setia Mohamad Adzib Mohd Isa.
At least 257 asnaf children in the district received the education aid for the 2017 school session with a total amount of RM146,320.
The convoy then continued their journey to two asnaf houses in Hulu Bernam for some gotong-royong activities and house renovation.
The ‘Wheel 4 Ummah’ convoy is among the activities held in conjunction with the ‘Zakat Di Hati’ mega campaign by LZS, which is from November 15 to this December 15.
This is the fifth time this initiative is organised since it has been successful in becoming a platform for spreading information regarding zakat collection and distribution to communities in Selangor through various interesting activities for the Selangor Muslim community.
