Strict action should be taken against Bung Mokhtar, may affect Malaysia-Germany relations

KUALA LUMPUR, 10 July: Parti Keadilan Rakyat (PKR) criticised the actions of the Member of Parliament for Kinabatangan, Datuk Bung Mokhtar Radin, of praising the Nazi during the World Cup semi-final match between Germany and Brazil, which was deemed to be ‘projecting his own stupidity’.

The PKR Communications Director, Fahmi Fadzil, said that the act was not just embarrassing, but it could strain relations between Germany and Malaysia.

He stressed that serious action should be taken against Bung Mokhtar’s bad behaviour so that relations between the two countries will not be affected.

“Bung Mokhtar’s statement was not very smart. We can see that Najib Razak’s government is weak when Members of Parliament or Ministers do things that are embarrassing and that they should not,” he said, quoted from Keadilan Daily.

The Member of Parliament for Kinibatangan, once again sparked controversy when he prayed for the German dictator, Adolf Hitler’s longevity on his Twitter following the Germany team’s 7-1 victory against Brazil.

Bung Mokhtar had previously issued statements that triggered controversy, including at the House of Representatives, as well as arguing on Twitter.

However, Bung Mokhtar apologised on Twitter after being reprimanded by the Prime Minister in a written statement.
