Catfish lost at Pantai Morib

MORIB: Heavy rain and rough seas did not deter the spirit of participants of the Pantai Morib Selangor GP Series 2014.

All the participants did not budge from the site of the competition to ensure that they become one of the winners in the competition.

The President of MDKL, Mohd Azhar Mohamed Ali, said that Pantai Morib was again selected as the Pantai Morib Selangor GP Series 2014 competition site because this beach has a wide range of infrastructural facilities and a beach with lots of fish.

He said that MDKL is committed to the organisation of healthy activities like this and it was also able to attract many tourists from within and outside the country.

Indirectly, by organising such events it brings the relationship of family and friends closer.

He also said that Pantai Morib is always visited by angling enthusiasts.

In conjunction with the competition, Wak Jali Event Management organised the Weekend Night Challenge when a staff member of MDKLL managed to catch a fish weighing 0.700 gram and became the champion when he took home a cash prize of RM1,000 and RM50.00 for the seventh place.

Mohd Azhar Mohamed Ali said that a participant from Pahang, Mohd Azuki Md Sharif, became the Pantai Morib Selangor GP Series 2014 managed to tame a catfish weighing 2.960 kg at 10.00 with cash prizes amounting to RM15,000 as well as accompanying prizes.

The second place was won by Abdul Hamid Karim who managed to catch a puffer fish weighing 0.425 grams at 8.17 and took home a cash prize of RM6,000 as well as accompanying prizes.

Meanwhile, the third place was won by Yanti Ismail who managed to catch a puffer fish weighing 0.345 grams at 8.15 am, taking home a cash prize of RM3,000 as well as accompanying prizes.

Apart from the main prizes, which were presented by the Chairman for the Standing Committee for Islamic Affairs, Agricultural Modernisation and Rural Development, Sallehen Mukhyi, the sponsors also offered cash prizes worth RM200.00 as well as accompanying prizes for places 30 to 21.

Meanwhile for places 20 to 11, winners will take home a cash prize of RM300.00 and hampers, and for 10th to 4th place, winners will take home cash prizes of RM400.00 and hampers.

Also at the competition was the Executive Councillor in charge of Youth and Sports, Dr Ahmad Yunus Hairi, the Assemblyman for Tg. Sepat, Mohd Haslin Hashimd, and Kuala Langat District Officer, Md Hasrul Faiz Baharudin.
