TEKUN should emulate HIJRAH Programme to help all

KUALA LUMPUR, 18 May: The Entrepreneurs Economic Fund (TEKUN) should make the Selangor government’s Hijrah programme an example to help entrepreneurs regardless of race or political affiliation.

Mohamed Azmin Ali (PKR-Gombak) said that the statement by the TEKUN Chief Executive Officer, Datuk Abdul Rahim Hassan, before TEKUN was established to help Umno politicians prove that the Federal Government uses public funds for their political interests.

Mohamed Azmin said that the policy adopted by the Selangor government helps all, irrespective of political understanding, proving Pakatan Rakyat’s commitment in improving the lives of entrepreneurs in the state.

“I am not satisfied with the answers given by the ministry because it does not reflect the Federal Government’s seriousness in using the funds efficiently and fairly on those in need.

“The statistics and statement given by the TEKUN CEO shows that this funds are being used exclusively for political bribery to gain support for Barisan Nasional,” said Mohamed Azmin, who is also the Chief Minister of Selangor, to reporters at the Parliamentary House today.

Prior to this, Mohamed Azmin, during a verbal question session, asked the Ministry of Agriculture and Agro-based Industries to explain why only RM1.6 million is being used out of TEKUN’s RM8 million allocation for Indigenous People since it was launched two years ago.

The Deputy Minister, Datuk Sri Tajuddin Abd Rahman (BN-Pasir Salak), did not only fail to answer, but avoided the question by trying to belittle the Hijrah programme by the Selangor government.
