KUALA LANGAT, 22 May: The Selangor Religious Islamic Department (JAIS) will carry out development projects worth over RM2 billion within five years.
The Selangor Exco of Islamic Affairs, Malay Customs and Heritage, Rural Development and Traditional Villages, Datuk Dr Ahmad Yunus Hairi, said that the project will be carried out under the 11th Malaysia Plan (RMK-11).
He said among the projects involved is the construction of mosques, religious schools, suraus and institutions related to the department.
“In fact, the Kuala Langat District Islamic Religious Office alone has development provisions of about RM21 million in the RMK-10 and is now in the initial phase.
“This development will continue and in the RMK-11 there is also a plan to build a mosque in Saujana Putra, the People’s Religious School, and to empower the Istana Bandar Integrated Tahfiz Institution as well as the Integrated Religious Secondary School in Bagan Lalang.
“There are some still under review, but it is estimated for RM2 million in the RMK-13, but it depends on the demand from time to time,” he said during a press conference at the Kuala Langat District Islamic Religious Office today.
He said that the demand is also expected to increase due to contributing factors, including the increase in population.
